Orthodontics is a subspecialty of dentistry. The term “orthodontics” is made up of two Greek words: “orthos,” which means “straight or accurate,” and “dontics,” which means “teeth.” Thus, orthodontics refers to the profession of straightening crooked teeth or malocclusions.
